Vellai Urulai Podimas
Ingredients:
1. Potato / Urulai - 250 grams2. Oil - 4 tablespoons
3. Salt - Required
4. Mustard Seeds / Kadugu - 1/2 tablespoon
5. Curry Leaves (Optional)
6. Urad dal - 1/2 tablespoon
7. Jeera - 1/2 tablespoon
For Grinding:
8. Coconut - 1/4 cup
8. Coconut - 1/4 cup
9. Green chili - 2
10. Jeera - 1/2 tablespoon
Preparation method:
1. Cut the potatoes into medium sized pieces and fully boil it with a pinch of salt.
2. Coarsely grind all the items given under grinding section without water and keep it aside.
3. In a pan add the oil and heat it. Once it got heated, add in the Mustard Seeds / Kadugu, jeera, urad dal, curry leaves and let it splatter.
4. Add the boiled potato in pan with salt and fry it in low flame for 2 minutes.
5. Now add in the grounded coconut paste and mix it well.
6. Fry in low flame for 2 minutes and urulai podimas is ready.
This goes well with vathakuzhambu, tomato briyani and few other spicy dishes.
